My story, just like anyone else's, started with my parents... |
My mother, Mei Quanzhong, was a hired performer from the east. She would sing and play her music at noble’s social events. Everyone loved her performances, especially my father, Grand Duke Yuto Ryuuki.
Enraptured, he would watch from afar as she would sing her heart out, and would oftentimes go out to the town square to listen to my mother’s stories whenever he had a break . Of course, the Council of Fate, a bunch of crooked, old elves, would disprove of his antics, even threatening him with arranged marriage, yet Yuto would still venture out to see Mei. Eventually, they got married, much to some noble lady's and the Grand Council’s disappointment and jealousy. They had me, and years later, my brother Kozue. |
Life was good for me. I would stick to my mother a lot more since father was often busy. My mother taught me how to sing, dance, play many instruments, and talked about her homeland. She even got me a proper tutor, a friend named Roman, to teach me about how to be a proper performer. Kozue was unfortunately taken away by the Grand Council to be trained under my father as his apprentice.
When I was about 50 years old, my mother and I were poisoned. It was in the form of an apple pie that a human noble lady gave to us. I fell into a coma, while my mother passed away. My father, grief stricken, further distanced himself from me, causing a bigger rift between me and my father and brother. My father was pushed into having a relationship with the foul human noble lady from before, and on a trip to a neighboring county, the boat sank, killing my father and the witch with him.

Because of the turn of events, I was the one to take over the Dukedom. The Grand Council did not like that so when I was almost 100, the Grand Council decided now was the time to get rid of me; those misogynistic pricks! They went behind my back and arranged a marriage between me and the third prince of the neighboring human kingdom. Not accepting that bullshit, I fled from Skaylor, away from my home, and used my bard skills to find money. Of course, the Grand Council was not happy, so they sent out guards to find me, but they had no luck whatsoever. Changing my appearance, I took up the alias Mavis and set out to find protection against the Grand Council, and someday, find someone willing to help me take them and the corruption they bring down.

I had a relationship once. I was wandering the woods alone, and stumbled upon a shrine deep in the forest. Upon entering the shrine, a fox spirit called Keiko appeared and insisted that I stay for a while, for it would start to rain. I agreed, foolishly, and during those couple days of harsh weather, I started to catch feelings for Keiko. She also shared the same sentiment and we felt like we could be more. There was one problem though. Whenever I would start to fall asleep, I would feel dread wash through my body, urging me to get the hell out. I would usually shrug it off and say that I was just paranoid of being found by the Grand Council. I was dead wrong. See, for the past two months I was with Keiko, I never realized that she would play with me when I was asleep. She would watch me, caress me. Just made me feel uncomfortable, yet all was done when I was asleep. Normally Elves do not sleep, and are put in a meditative trance, so when I was resting, she would use that opportunity to stare at me. It wasn’t until I woke up to her feeling me up that I realized what she was doing. Heartbroken, I hurriedly fled the shrine with my things, just trying to get a lot of distance away from Keiko.
